Michigan Family Review (MFR) is a peer-reviewed interdisciplinary publication of the Michigan Council on Family Relations (MiCFR) focused on professional application and scholarly inquiry. The main purpose of the Review is to publish articles and reviews about critical contemporary problems confronting families and those who provide service to them. Articles are intended to be succinct statements of issues, research findings, theoretical ideas, policies, or program recommendations that will be useful in practice. Each issue will focus on a single theme. MFR provides a forum for a wide range of professionals and others interested in strengthening family life. Readers and contributors include educators at many levels in several fields, social service staff, researchers, attorneys, medical and health personnel, clergy, and public policy makers, as well as practitioners in community and citizen-action groups, and family members themselves. Views presented in articles do not necessarily represent the views of MFR editors or advisory board members or the MiCFR board or membership. PUBLICATION INFORMATION One thematic issue of MFR is published each year. Beginning in February, 2005, MFR is available as an open access journal through agreement with the Scholarly Publishing Office of The University of Michigan Libraries. Past issues are also available in hard copy on a limited basis. EDITOR, 2006-2009 Martin A. Covey FOUNDING EDITOR, 1995-2005 Libby Balter Blume EDITORIAL REVIEW BOARD Gloria Albrecht Betty L. Membership in the Council is not a prerequisite for publication. MFR solicits manuscripts that provide analyses of critical issues facing families; program descriptions and information related to education, counseling, or other family services (e.g., health, legal, social services); theory and research; or other topics that focus on implications for family professionals. Emphasis is on professional practice. 1. Manuscripts should not be submitted to other journals while under review by MFR. Only previously unpublished manuscripts should be submitted; occasionally reprints or abridgements may be invited. 2. Authors should submit an electronic copy of the manuscript as a Word document. Maximum length is 10 to 15 double-spaced pages of text in 12 point Times New Roman font (not including title page, end notes, references and figures). Longer articles may sometimes be considered. 3. Margins should not be less than one inch. All copy, including quotations, footnotes, and references should be double-spaced. 4. Authors should follow the editorial style specifications for punctuation, headings, footnotes, citations, references, quotations, tables, figures, etc., of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 5th edition (2001). 5. The title page should include title, author's name, institutional affiliation, and running head for publication. Because articles are submitted to blind review, only the title of the article should appear on the first page of the manuscript. Follow APA Manual for information about running head and author note. 6. Follow the page order and numbering instructions in the APA Manual. For review purposes, lines may be numbered and page-headers may be used. If so, they should include the first two or three words of the title, but not the name of the author. 7. Include an abstract of 50 to 75 words on a separate page. Below the abstract list 3 to 6 key words by which the paper may be indexed. 8. Footnotes should be kept to a minimum, numbered consecutively throughout the article, and be typed on a separate page. 9. Keep tables and figures to a minimum. If accepted for publication, figures must be professionally prepared .jpeg, .tif, or .pdf files. Follow APA manual for titles, format, etc. 10. Manuscripts submitted for consideration will be reviewed by two reviewers and the editors. Invited articles will be reviewed by the editors. 11. If accepted, authors will be asked to electronically submit the final manuscript as a Word document and may receive further instructions regarding preparing of manuscript for publication. Articles may be edited to accommodate space and format requirements. 12. For acknowledgment of manuscript, include the e-mail address of the corresponding author. 13. Submit manuscripts by electronic mail to: Dr. Martin Covey, Editor |
