Passages: A Chronicle of the African Humanities (ISSN 1056-6783, first published under ISSN 1053-1319 as a successor to PAS News and Events) was founded in 1991 at Northwestern University's Program of African Studies as a print serial. Now, with the generous permission of Northwestern University, passages (ISSN 1933-5148) is being published again, this time as a web-based serial, unfolding within the web-based journal GEFAME. As with the original journal, passages intends to move forward without the bureaucratic and censoring functions of a board and peer review and with minimal editorial intervention. We invite contributions of diverse origin, length, and intention. We seek written contributions: readings, interpretations, reviews, essays, debates, reports, news articles, transcripts, and links as well as suggestions and criticism. Submissions are requested in Microsoft Word format, with references, citations, and bibliography following the general social science format. Submissions should be sent by e-mail attachment to passages.editors@umich.edu . Authors should assure that their submissions are error-free and complete. Submissions will not be returned.
