About The New Testament (Douay-Rheims, Challoner revision, ca. 1750)

This version of the Douay-Rheims Bible was prepared by Jeffery Triggs of the OED's North American Reading Program. It was subsequently converted to conform to the TEI DTD at the University of Michigan Humanities Text Initiative. We were contacted in August 2007 by Prof. Tarik Wareh at Union College that this was in fact the Douay-Rheims Bible, Challoner revision (ca. 1750) and not the Rheims Bible of 1582, and we have made corrections on the website.

Books bear IDs in the form N1. Chapters bear IDs in the form N1.1. Verses use the TEI element <S>, and bear number attributes (i.e., N=) in the form N1.1.1. Paragraphs have been nominally declared at the beginning of each chapter. The full 1.1 Mb SGML file is also available.
